Thanks HD, but who are the silly buggers bidding on it now? The smart bidder doesn't bid until the last minute, lest he artificially inflates the price of the item...

For you guys bidding several days before close of auction: STOP! And wait till the end... You're only going to end up in an ego-driven "bidding competition" with some fool who has more money than brains, and THEN you're going to end up paying more for the item than what you should Wink *

Be silent and patient... the item ain't going anywhere... wait till the last 45 seconds, and then WHAM! Lay down the highest your willing to bid. 9 times out of ten, you'll get the item.

Believe me, I know Ebay, and something of human psychology...

And that's TC's handy tip for today Smile

* Bidding early is very much loved by both Ebay and the Sellers. Why? Because, naturally, the Seller makes a heftier profit, and Ebay ends up extracting more fees from the Seller due to the item going for a higher price than what it would if smart bidders only bid at the very end of the auction Wink

Here's the simple formula:

Bid early and often: Ebay and Seller wins. (Due to item going for a higher price)

Bid late and in the last minute: The Buyer wins and wins again. (Due to item going for a cheaper, more reasonable price) Wink

I believe that is what ebay terms 'sniping' - discouraged, and now I see why - they do not make as much commission as they would from ego-bidding!

Seriously though, that is why I won't use ebay - believing the bidding process to be just that - a bidding process, I have been shot by a sniper and it's a real dampener. I've also seen second-hand products sold to near their bought-new value - crazy.

Keep up the good work Sir.

The Colonel is correct about the bidding... from what I have learned
myself when buying and selling coins some years back...
it was always best to bid at the last minute before it closes...

Sometimes... another bidder will outbid you at the very last second!!!!!
So you have to time it just right...

I really hope whoever gets this cooker will enjoy it for many years to
come since this item appears to be in excellent condition and it's a
rare find indeed!

Congrats Letsparty on your bid for that new KFC cooker!

When you do get your cooker... there are alot of folks here that are
very familiar with KFC cookers and maybe can help you on how
to use it, cooking methods, etc... all you have to do is ask.

No, they most certainly DO NOT Wink

Colonel Sanders - for example - only EVER used pressure COOKERS to fry his chicken... he was careful is all; taking the same care he would, if the cooker had water in it. Pressure cookers are not "more dangerous" simply because they utilise oil rather than water... The Laws of Physics work the same, whatever the liquid involved.

It's absolutely ridiculous that on the one hand ignoramuses like the folks who run that website will declare that "modern" pressure cookers are "so" safe they it is near impossible to blow them up; but then they declare that for some "magical reason" that defies basic physics, if you use oil in one, it'll explode and cause "certain" death!

It makes no sense... either they're safe, or they're not, no matter what the liquid in them is!

Oh! and welcome aboard LP! Smile It's great to have you here my friend!

Well I got a late Christmas present a couple of days back, my kfc cooker has finally arrived.
Its been well used, with the grim of decades still evident.
Safety valves all clogged up but slowly pulling apart and cleaning,
propably needs a new gasket and possibly scratches around sealing surface need polishing out, as not holding pressure to well.

will keep you informed of progress.

does anyone have any info on the btu rating of the gas burners used in early kfc restrants?

Letsparty,

What size is your cooker again? If its a smaller cooker you don't need high BTU, if on the other hand you had purchased a 16 quart pressure cooker then you you would need high heat in order to get all that oil up to temp.
